Electro-toxicology, developed and patented by John Thorp of the Thorp Institute, is a discipline that detoxifies the body via the use of medical micro-current applied directly to the energy pathways of the body called meridians. This is a very different technology than acupuncture or a use of a TENS unit. The acuscope and myopulse are a hands-on, intensively applied therapy.

What is the Acuscope?
The acuscope is a device specifically designed to read the body tissues and address problems found in neurologic tissues. Using high-tech, 21st century technologies, it is one of the most effective form of pain relief therapy available in the world.
An advanced cellular electro-stimulation technique, the acuscope provides pain relief for both acute injuries and chronic conditions. Originally used (with great success) to treat sports injures in professional athletes, the acuscope provides amazingly fast relief of pain and repair of tisses after an acute injury.
What is the Myopulse? The myopulse specializes in healing
connective tissues, including muscles, tendons, bones, fascia and ligaments. Generally, both the acuscope and the myopulse are used in the same session, one machine may be used more than the other or alone in any given treatment.
Myopulse offers one of the most effective forms of cellular healing available. Utilizing an individually-tuned, complex waveform, the myopulse is designed to normalize cellular imbalances in the connective tissue. Like a self-guided missile, the micro current targets damaged cells and assists them in self-correcting their electrical signal.
Electro-stimulation and pain relief achieved with the myopulse improves metabolism within individual cells. Electrical currents are used to increase blood flow and circulation so soft tissue injuries can rapidly heal. Due to the extremely low amperage, myopulse delivers little or no discomfort.
How it works: The acuscope and myopulse emit micro-current waves that help damaged nerve and muscle cells, quickly removing inflammation. The introduction of healing frequencies dramatically shorten the time it takes to get back in the game. A technician uses the acuscope and the myopulse to measure the electrical reading of the injured tissues. Using the electrical patterns sent to the machines by the body, a microcomputer issues the corrective waveforms to reduce swelling and energy stagnation in connective and nerve tissue. Like a self-guided missile, the micro-current targets damaged cells and assists them in self-correcting their electrical signal. Once the electrical balance is reestablished, optimal blood flow can return, returning the damaged cells to a healthy state.
What can I expect?
The doctor or the technician will administer micro-current treatment using plates or topically applied probes, or a combination of both, to the areas of the body where you have pain. This treatment should be painless; if any discomfort is experienced, such as stinging or throbbing, the practitioner can adjust the equipment to eliminate these sensations.
Prior to beginning your treatment, your history and description of your pain and injury will be discussed to determine the appropriate starting point and location. Be sure to dress comfortably in sweats, loose clothing or a bathing suit; you may need to remove some clothing to access areas that need to be treated. Your privacy, of course, will be maintained.

How many treatments will I need?
With acute injuries, many people have complete relief of pain and are back to their activities, including sports, in three or less treatments. The sooner the injury is adressed, the faster the treatment works. With old injuries (more than 3 months) and chronic conditions, 12 to 15 treatments may be required to obtain the best results. The best protocol is three days in a row and then once or twice per week until the series is complete. PLEASE NOTE: Treatments generally take up to 90 minutes, but can take longer; please be prepared to stay longer if necessary.

Q: Is this treatment new?
A: This equipment and these therapies have been in use for more than 20 years. However, there are no other physicians or practitioners in Northeast Ohio who have Thorp Certified equipment and Thorp-trained professionals.
Q: Is there an age limitation for this treatment?
A: Electro-toxicology with the acuscope and myopulse can be used in persons of all ages. We have treated a 7-year old with acute sprains and an 92 year-young patient with hip pain.
Q: Are there any contraindications to this treatment?
A: Patients who are pregnant or have a pacemaker cannot undergo this treatment.
Q: I don't live near you. Where can I find another practitioner who uses this equipment?
